Davido emerged on the Nigerian music scene in 2011.
But it wasn’t until 2012 that he released his debut project, an album called “OBO: The Genesis” that he has been working on by the time he dropped “Back When” with Naeto C in 2011.
Meanwhile, he second single off the album was the very popular hit, “Dami Duro” produced by Shizzi. “Dami Duro” was a mad it in 2011 and is often regarded as the song that blew Davido.
The third single from the album, however, is the silent hit, “Ekuro” that was released on January 26, 2012, exactly ten years ago today. Although not exactly as big as “Dami Duro,” the love number was a hit in its own right.
The song actually was what made many people fall in love with Davido. This was probably because it showed his versatility and that he’s got more to offer.
On “Ekuro,” Davido sings about a love interest, fusing English verses with a Yoruba chorus that was the toast of the town in 2012. “Ekuro” was a direct and perfect follow-up to 2011’s “Dami Duro” and arguably one of the best tracks on the album.
It was released ten years ago today. How time flies!
Do You Agree That “Ekuro” Is The Best Track On Davido’s Debut Album?
