He’s good no doubt, but he’s also an underground rapper who is barely known in the mainstream.
He’s mostly known for his fire verses on the LAMB Cypher he did with M.I Abaga, Blaqbonez and Loose Kaynon in 2019.
But besides that, this guy also got the Best Rap Album in the country for three years in a row and is one of the best lyricists in Nigeria at the moment.
So, whenever he drops something new, the hip-hop community for sure listens.
Let’s talk about his new project, though.
The new EP, called “Golden” is a short 7-track project and clocks in at 19 minutes.
One of the highlights of the projects is probably the track “Breathe” which features one of the fastest rising stars in the country, Chike.
But that’s not nearly as interesting as the song he made about the End SARS protests and the Lekki Massacre incident of 2020.
On the song “Shoot The Messenger,” A-Q raps about the widely known incident of October 20th, 2020 and the events that led to it.
He raps from the perspective of a protester who was killed at Lekki toll gate, and begs that the fight should not end.
Recall that not long after the incident, Burna Boy did a song about it, “20 10 20” and it became popular in the days after.
It’s good to see more and more artists making songs about it, and making references to it in their arts.
Kudos to A-Q!
