The whole country has been talking since the news of proposed generated ban/usage broke out
A senator Bima Enagi had proposed a bill titled “a bill for an Act to prohibit/ban the importation of generating sets to curb the menace of environmental (air) pollution and to facilitate the development of the power sector,”
He then further explained that the ban would not affect in Medical Hospitals, Airports, Railway stations/services, Elevators (lifts), Escalators, Research Institutions, and Facilities that require 24 hours electric power supply. (which are obviously for government)
However, Nigerians have argued for and against the proposed bill with most people talking about how hard it is for even those using generator to survive with their daily chores with generator.
Remember how Minister for Power, Babatunde Fashola talked sweetly about how easy it is to make sure Nigeria have 24/7 light before his appointment. Remember how he later said it is impossible for his plans to work after he was appointed.
A lot of people have been talking about the advantages and the disadvantages of this if it is eventually passed into law.
Imagine Senators that opted for imported Toyota Prado Jeep 2020, are legislating to ban importation of generators. Tomorrow, someone will say those criticizing govt are tainting Nigeria’s image. But what do we know?
So Guys, we are throwing the question out to you
