It is clear that Paul Pogba wants to leave Man United after an abysmal season that saw the Red Devils fail to secure a Champions League spot.
Real Madrid are reportedly in pole position to sign the France international midfielder.
Will he be a good buy for Los Blancos however?
We explore 4 reasons why the Spanish club should block any major plans to sign him:
Pogba Is Too Damn Expensive!
At 26, Pogba earns a staggering £290,000 per week at Man United, which is higher than anyone earns at Real Madrid aside Gareth Bale.
Ole Gunnar Solskjær has placed a fee of €170 million for a possible transfer for the world cup winner and if the deal is to materialize, would be almost twice of Real Madrid’s club transfer record!
Its ridiculous for Madrid to splash that amount on a player who is never consistent.
There Are Cheaper Players In The Transfer Market!
Why splash over €100 million on Pogba when you can buy other reliable players for a cheaper price?
We are not here to squash Pogba’s quality. He is a world cup winner and on his day can be very effective, but there are players out there who will cost less and deliver on a regular basis.
A prime example is Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen who recently guided his club Tottenham to a Champions League final.
Pogba Is Highly Controversial!
If he is not making sarcastic comments on social media, he is falling out with the manager.
It is no denying that Pogba’s fallout with Jose Mourinho was the main reason for the Portuguese sack at Man United in December 2018.
The departure caused a huge hole in the Red Devils dressing room with some players blaming Pogba for the eventual chaos.
Man United subsequently finished 6th in the Premier League with new manager Solskjaer, despite Pogba repeatedly blaming the former manager for the club’s poor form.
The dressing room at the Bernabeu is one of the biggest in the world, with some of the best footballers in history.
Real Madrid, after a poor season, with Zidane looking to rebuild the squad from the scratch certainly don’t need controversial players.
Pogba Is Not Consistent!
After signing for a world record fee, Pogba was touted to become the man to take Man United back to the glory days.
While he has occasionally shown glimpse of what he is made of, failure to do that consistently has seen many question his attributes.
Even Man United legend Roy Keane called him a ‘big problem‘ while his former manager Jose Mourinho branded him a ‘virus’.
In Real Madrid, Pogba will be scrutinized every match day and his antics at the Bernabeu will certainly not cut the mustard. Just look at how the fans treat Bale.
Zinedine Zidane better look elsewhere.
