Jose Mourinho has revealed Marcos Rojo had to munch a banana due to fatigue, while stressing the level of tiredness in his squad after their 1-0 win over Rostov in the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Red Devils were clearly knackered as they fought to keep their slim win over their Russian opponents on Thursday night, the match saw Paul Pogba limp off due to injury while Danny Blind was also concussed before being replaced by Phil Jones who had to request for an inhaler during the tie. However, a funny part of the match was when Jose Mourinho passed a banana to Marcos Rojo through Ashley Young which the Argentine defender munched during the game.
Speaking about the incident after the game, Jose Mourinho said: “I don’t know if you have been tired at any time in your life,
“I was tired many times and I know what are the limits of the body and when the body needs anything… anything!
“The player asked for a banana and it is not to laugh at all, it is to respect the players and their limits. They gave absolutely everything.”
Manchester United now travel to the Riverside stadium on Sunday to take Middlesbrough and will miss Paul Pogba who is out injured.
