Leicester hosted Sevilla in the 2nd leg of the Champions League last 16 tonight, knowing that a single goal could see them through to the quarter-finals.
Having lost the 1st leg 1-0 in Seville a couple of weeks ago, Leicester have the key advantage of having scored an away goal, which means a 1-0 win would see them through tonight.
They’ve had a real upturn in fortunes since Craig Shakespeare took over from Claudio Ranieri, and the threat of relegation has been dissipated, meaning they can really go for it tonight against Sevilla.
And in the end, they got through with a bit to spare, beating the Spanish side by 2 goals to nil.
They did ride their luck at times, naturally, as Schmeichel was called into action to save a Nzonzi penalty.
But that aside, Leicester were well worth their win.

And of course, Twitter is rejoicing in their triumph, as it seems Leicester are flavour of the month once more after that period of anger over Ranieri’s sacking.
But football moves on quickly, and it seems as if Craig Shakespeare’s appointment has been justified.
Aside from Leicester’s triumph, Arsenal are almost trending, as everyone’s noticed a pretty galling comparison with Leicester’s achievement….

Without Ranieri, the joy is not the same. But what Leicester are doing is almost miraculous, whatsoever. The majority did bet against them.
