Jose Mourinho loves a trophy win, and making a bit of history, and he’s done exactly that after guiding Man United to the EFL Cup. He has now become the first Manchester United manager to win a major trophy in his debut season at the club – and will be hoping that it’s one of three.
United were 2-0 up, and then had to fight for the win, but Mourinho’s most trusted player made sure it happened – and showed everyone once again that he’s a world class striker to boot.
A special trophy
Mourinho has now won four League Cup trophies in his managerial career – three with Chelsea, and now one with Man United, and will be hoping that this is the starting point of a dynasty with the Red Devils.
The manager has always used the League Cup as a spring board to win other trophies – and his Chelsea side did it many times.
This may not be the precursor to the Premier League trophy this term, but it could help them kick on and win the FA Cup, and the Europa League to boot, something that would be a huge achievement.
