Barcelona Striker Luis Suarez has become the latest player of the La Liga side to reach 100 goals after scoring in the Copa del Rey clash against Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday.
The win, which means Barca have advanced to the quarterfinals, was made possible by goals from Suarez {35′), Neymar (48′) and Messi (75′) – the popular MSN trio. And a goal from Saborit Teixidor for Bilbao in the 55th made the scoreline 3-1.
The Uruguayan, who was signed from Liverpool in 2014 achieved the feat in just 120 games, making him faster than some of Barca’s star players including Lionel Messi, Samuel Eto’o and Rivaldo.
But Suarez is not the fastest to reach 100 goals according to records. The honour goes to Mariano Martin, who needed just 99 games to achieve the same feat. Below is the ranking at Barcelona:
Mariano Martin – 99 games
Laszlo Kubala – 103 games
Luis Suarez – 120 games
Eulogio Martínez – 136 games
Samuel Eto’o – 157 games
Rivaldo – 173 games
Hristo Stoichkov – 186 games
Lionel Messi – 188 games
Also, from Wednesday’s win. Messi’s goal was his 26th free kick goal for Barcelona – and one more from the Argentine will break another record at the club.
